1. Brinell hardness tester: it is mainly used to measure the non quenched steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals and soft bearing alloy materials, expressed by HBW.

3. Rockwell hardness tester: used to test the hardness of various steels (including alloy steel and stainless steel). This is the most important and commonly used type of hardness tester.
